Launch of new Local Information System – LASOS
27 January 2009 - admin
Fluent Technology are pleased to announce the launch of a new local information system on behalf of
Sheffield, Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham City Councils and the
Health, Police, and Fire and Rescue Services.
For the first time people in Sheffield and South Yorkshire will be able to see
key facts and information about their neighbourhoods on an easy to access site (www.lasos.org.uk).
And those concerned with improving public services can also use the new system - called LASOS, Local Area Statistics Online Service - to analyse data and generate reports at the push of a button. It is hoped it will help to improve public services and quality of life for local people.
The new service has been built on Fluent Technologies product, ORIGIN. ORIGIN is a local information system and data observatory solution platform and now forms the core of local information systems for a number of local authorities across the UK.
Cllr Bob McCann, Sheffield City Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing and Sustainable, Safer Communities said:
"This is a fantastic new service which we hope will help people to have a better overview of the area they live in while at the same time will help those wanting to invest in parts of our city. It is important that we give people up to date information about where they live and also information about what is being done to meet the set targets. It is all about being honest, open and accountable.”
