04 January 2010 - admin
The latest version of Origin released on the 4th Jan 2010 introduces a variety of new features that bring together existing Local Information System functionality with new Data Observatory functionality to deliver a fully integrated knowledge centre for any organisation interested in sharing decision support information.
Main features of this version include:
- Resource library – a tool to share both findings generated within the LIS (data tables, charts & maps) and also uploading or linking to electronic documents. Documents can contain extensive meta data such as Integrated Public Sector Vocabulary (IPSV) tagging, related document linking, related data linking, version control, and much more.
- Enhanced organisation – groups any data within Origin (datasets, published findings, resource library documents etc) can now be organised into either thematic or project based groups. Group can be closed (secure) or publicly available and can be customised to meet any specific strategic purpose, such as a Joint Strategic Needs Assessment, Local Area Agreements etc.
- Enhanced analysis – the mapping capabilities have been significantly extended and two new features are available.
Correlation Analysis allowing you to find correlations between any two indicators in the system and present them on a scatter chart with an interactive map.
Comparison Maps allow you to generate maps of two indicators for different geographic area types (e.g. Ward compared with LSOA). The first indicator is represented by thematic shaded boundaries and the second by thematic discs.
Enhanced design – the Origin interface has undergone a complete redesign, now incorporating accessibility improvements and many best practices for the presentation and organisation of information making it easier to customise and brand the solution to meet your own creative design requirements.
