Fluent Technology win contract to provide Surrey Local Information System
17 May 2010 - fluent
Fluent Technology has been awarded the contract to supply the Surrey Strategic Partnership with a Local Information System (LIS) based upon its ‘ORIGIN’ platform. This will provide a countywide networked data and information store and library complete with data analysis and survey tools to help public sector organisations in Surrey work together even more closely.
Public sector organisations have access to a growing number of statistics that can be used to help understand trends and inform decisions and policy. However storing, managing and analysing this data and making it available to others is not a trivial matter. An LIS is a web-based system that stores, analyses and presents national and local data.
"Surrey’s new Local Information System will be both a shared management tool to help us make sure that the people of Surrey get maximum value for money from their public services and a public web-portal for residents and communities to use, said Jenny Smith, research and intelligence manager at Surrey County Council. "It will be used by organisations throughout Surrey including the county council, Surrey’s eleven district and borough councils, Surrey Police and NHS Surrey. Having a single, shared source of statistics will enable us to identify joint priorities and develop better ways of working together for the benefit of our communities. We are confident Fluent Technology will help us to deliver world-class services.
David Cordner, a director and solution architect for Fluent Technology, said: "We are delighted to have won this contract to deliver what will probably be one of the UK's most ambitious Local Information Systems to date. "The total solution will serve well over 200 hundred users across Surrey and deliver open access to much of the data, insights and profiles to the general public.”
