Surrey reports savings of £40000 using ORIGIN!

Surrey County Council has been actively using ORIGIN for 6 months and the benefits achieved have exceeded expectations. One of the most notable benefits is an estimated £40000 efficiency saving.
The vision for
Surreyi was to create a single point of entry to a collection of information
about Surrey the people, the places and the issues. The Surrey-i project
has delivered a public website, local information system, GIS system and data warehouse
for the Surrey Strategic Partnership. The project has achieved its strategic
goal; to deliver a system that brings data together in one place.
Surrey-i has also delivered exceptional benefits to the
council. The site has provided the people of Surrey with an increased access to
information, this is a much needed resource and Surrey-i has already received
15000 visitors over the last 6 months. However the most notable benefit is the
cost savings. There has been a huge reduction in staff officer time taken to access
information, it is estimated to be about 19 minutes saved per transaction. This
equates to £40000 efficiency savings in the past 6 months alone!
We are delighted that the council is seeing these
results. Looking forward Surrey Council forecast a continued high frequency of
visitors, more cost savings, an increased quality and added value of
information and a significant increase in the percentage of people who feel
able to influence decisions affecting their local area.
This
